Letters of resignation on behalf of children who have not attained the age of sixteen should normally be signed by the parents or those with parental responsibility or guardians. Area meetings are at liberty in special circumstances to dispense with the signature of one of the parents. Such a resignation should be accepted by the area meeting unless in its judgment this is contrary to the best interests of the child. Area meetings may also initiate the termination of membership of the children of any Friends whose membership has ceased under 11.29 or 11.30. If it seems likely that any child whose membership has been terminated will continue in association with the meeting, the area meeting should transfer the name to the list of children connected with the meeting but not in membership.
